For customers looking for honey mead near Bexar County, TX, Curmudgeons offers a lineup that goes well beyond plain traditional mead. From our Gatesville meadery, we make honey meads, original flavored varieties, fruit wines, and Glühwein. Every bottle starts with the same basic requirement: it needs to taste good enough that we are willing to stand behind it without excuses or complicated sales talk.

Our flavored meads are where things get especially interesting. Blackberry, coffee, hibiscus, elderberry, cranberry spice, Ancho chili, dandelion, and other ingredients create bottles with very different personalities. That means you are not stuck choosing between several products that taste almost identical. Whether you prefer something traditional, fruity, botanical, spicy, seasonal, or unexpected, there is usually something worth trying.

Customers visiting from near Bexar County can arrange a mead tasting and work through several selections before choosing a bottle. Tastings are designed to be simple and useful. We will tell you what you are drinking and what went into it, but you make the final call. If you like it, great. If you do not, there is another glass waiting to be tried.

Curmudgeons also produces fruit wines and Glühwein, giving wine drinkers plenty to explore alongside our meads. Our wine tastings avoid the formal winery routine and focus on what matters: flavor. Sample different selections, compare them side by side, and decide which ones suit you. You do not need to know the correct tasting vocabulary to know when something tastes good.

We are proud to be a disabled-veteran-owned and family-owned business. Our approach comes from years of service, technical work, travel, and experience rather than a corporate beverage playbook. We believe in supporting small businesses, sourcing locally whenever possible, producing original drinks, and refusing to sell something simply because time and money have already gone into making it.
